The last time I went to California, I photographed Kate for my styled elopement session (check out that cute sesh here). Kate is also a talented wedding photographer out on the west coast. I’m so grateful she referred me to Eliana and Frank! They invited me over to their home to photograph their Palm Springs engagement session.
We started in Eliana’s parent’s backyard- where they will be hosting their wedding reception later this fall. Dad’s garden was the prettiest backdrop for our cozy poses. Love a good hammock cuddle sesh.
Desert Oasis
Then we stopped by Azucar! A beautiful restaurant in Palm Springs- with the quirkiest style and an epic mountain rooftop deck. Can we just talk about this bar and dining room area 😍😍 all the textures and Spanish accents, and the stunning Frida gallery wall! We headed upstairs to the rooftop deck and danced under the desert sun.
We explored the streets and boutique hotels while listening to Bey’s new album, then made our way to the bottom of the mountains. I love that Palm Springs has lil oasisis (oasises? what the heck is the plural of oasis?) so you can enjoy sand-blasts from the windmill farms, or lush desert plants and greens along the golf courses. We got a little of everything the entire day!
Surprising Views Down The Street
My favorite stop was Eliana’s street. When I arrived in Palm Springs, I expected we would have to drive out of the town to be near the mountains and find cool desert views, but the best view was literally down the street from her home. Vibrant bougainvillea and cacti lined the street that led straight to the mountainside. Pairing a glam look with the urban terrain was really cool!
When planning your Palm Springs Engagement Session, I would suggest taking a peek at the weather to make sure the winds arent whipping too hard in the valley. (wow I feel so cool using the word valley appropriately 💁🏽) We only lasted a few minutes near the windmill farm, ’cause it was soooo windy- you could barely open your eyes from all the sand blowing around! But the outcome was SO worth it and I can’t wait to get back for their gorgeous wedding this fall!
