There are two places in the states that I love the most – Los Angeles and New Orleans. When Sydney reached out for me to join her in NOLA to photograph Tasha and Charles’ City Park New Orleans wedding, I was SO pumped! Any chance I get to hang out in my fave spot and chow on some beignets, I am down.
I started the morning with the girls in their quaint Airbnb before heading to hang in the french quarter with the dudes. Charles’ getting ready space was pretty dark, so we dodged cleaning ladies to get ready in a window filled hall overlooking the city. This old hotel was so quirky and had the coolest colorful walls for us to pose in front of.
We met up with Tasha at City Park in time for their romantic first look on top of a stone bridge. Their ceremony was held under their favorite oak tree, surrounded by friends and fam. Tasha sang along as her relatives performed a beautiful Native American hymn. The ceremony was so moving. It’s really cool to be part of weddings filled with different traditions and cultures. Learning about family history and traditions is always one of my favorite ways to tell the story through photography. Tasha’s bouquet was a collection of broaches she and her mom collected since she was young. Finding those deets throughout the day tie the story together. Even if the day is a blur of excitement, Tasha looked back on her album and saw these memorable moments and deets captured for her to look back on forever.
After running around the French Quarter in New Orleans for some portraits, we kicked off the reception at City Park’s Botanical Gardens. Check out those epic T-Swift-vibe portraits on the grounds! Since the gardens didn’t allow sparklers, Sydney suggested the fam turn on their cell phone lights so Tasha and Charles could exit like rockstars. It was super glam, and a great eco-friendly alternative for your grand exit at your City Park New Orleans wedding!
Second shot for the talented Sydney Rasch Photography.
